AGENCY: Division of State History

SERIES: 10341
TITLE: War History scrapbooks
DATES: 1940-1953.
ARRANGEMENT: By topic, thereunder chronological.

DESCRIPTION: This series contains scrapbooks created by the military records section documenting the activities of Utahns in military service during World War II and the Korean Conflict. The contents of the scrapbooks are primarily newspaper clippings, but there are a few other items as well. The items were mounted in books labeled "War History Press Clippings" followed by the name of a county. The military records section may have originally intended to organize the scrapbooks by county, but instead chose to arrange them by topic. Topics for the World War II era include "Casualties", "Enlistments", "Promotions", "Furloughs", "Misc. Military News", "Experiences", "War Memorials", "Soldiers Discharged", " Discharged Killed", "Heroes -- Awards", "Heroes", "Hospitalized", "Soldiers Letters", etc. Materials from the Korean War are grouped together chronologically without any sub-categories.
