AGENCY: Battleship Utah Silver Service Committee

SERIES: 1129
TITLE: Administrative records
DATES: 1909-1911, ca. 1969-1972, 1975.
ARRANGEMENT: Chronological.

DESCRIPTION: A register of contributors, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and design information on the silver service make up this series. Some clippings deal with the controversy over the selection of a design (which the detractors characterized as the "Brigham Young silver service"). Photographs and background information about the Battleship Utah are included.

Some non-commission records dealing with the Battleship and the silver service have been inserted. Included is a newspaper account of the burglary of the silver service from the Utah Historical Society (January 13, 1975), a pamphet about the USS Utah Memorial Fund (1971), and newspaper clippings announcing the beginning of construction (1971) and the dedication of the memorial (1972).
