DESCRIPTION: This volume records physical anthropological data on prison inmates. This data was gathered for criminal anthropological studies, common at the turn of the century, as a means of identifying born criminals. Entries were made by Andrew C._Ure, initially prison clerk and later deputy warden. Entries cover prisoner numbers 1600 through 3901. The volume has categories for recording general information; anthropometric data; descriptive data; marks, scars, moles, deformities, etc.; peculiarities of habit and action; and criminal history.
