DESCRIPTION: These records are compiled by the Executive Director of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to document the activities and plans of various private sports organizations in Utah, some of whom may receive state funding. The director is often one of the board members for these organizations, which include the Utah Sports Foundation and the Utah Ski Association, and is heavily involved in their activities. These records include copies of meeting minutes and data about the organization's plans.

These records also contain information about the 1998 Olympic bid efforts and the Olympic training facilities. Information regarding the bid process includes International Olympic Committee (IOC) members' site visit itineraries and correspondence. Also included is information about events surrounding the actual bid in England and about annual IOC meetings.
