Includes: thank you notes, congratulatory letters for achievements or occasions, letters of condolence, welcome letters to groups meeting in Utah, letters from job and appointment seekers, and letters of reference. Relates to pending state and federal legislation, agency budget requests, and economic development, with concerns over specific state agencies, particularly the Public Service Commission, State Training School, Department of Corrections, and Job Corps. Other significant issues are the governor's involvement in the Republican party and gubernatorial associations, the Singer-Swapp standoff in Marion, Utah; the National Guard and the Persian Gulf: the Olympics in Utah and the execution of convicted murderer, William Andrews.
