DESCRIPTION: Letters to the Governor on issues which generated large quantities of mail from constituents wishing to register their opinions or lobby for a particular action on his part. Generally response was a form letter if any. Includes: funding issues, construction for dance building at the University of Utah, threatened cut-backs in funding to aging services and senior centers, threatened tax increases particularly to fund education, allotment of funds to dislocated Geneva steel workers, arts education funding, and the social issues of abortion legislation, hazardous waste disposal, and public prayer. The Great Salt Lake flooding and subsequent West Desert Pumping Project received numerous suggestions for remedies and public comment, for which an attempt was made to respond individually.
