DESCRIPTION: These handwritten, bound volumes record grand jury inquiries into public offenses committed or triable in the Third Judicial District, including indictments charging a person with a public offense presented to the court. (See "Compiled Laws of Utah, 1888," vol. 2, Criminal Procedure, Title III, Chapters 1-2, pp. 680-685, and Title IV, Chapters 1-2, pp.685-690.). Crimes under consideration for indictment include murder, assault, rape, embezzlement , polygamy, fornication, burglary, larceny, etc.
