DESCRIPTION: This series contains reports, correspondence, project descriptions, and other various forms of records pertaining to federal and state programs instituted to relieve the effects of the Depression. Many of the federal programs devised to aid the poor were carried out at the state level as this series exhibits. The series, in its entirety, discloses the governmental methods used to try and ease the hardships of the Depression. It contains information on multiple projects (e.g. buildings, dams, roads, etc.) around the state. These projects were used to generate income and work for the Utah citizens suffering from financial loss. The Depression left lasting mental and physical changes to the United States; some of the programs created during that time are still in existence today.
