DESCRIPTION: This series contains correspondence, carbon copies, official letters, reports, summaries and receipts all related to the budget needs and spending procedures of the state and the governor's office. This series displays budget information for the state from the time period while also reflecting the cost of government during the Matheson administration. Most correspondence in the series was created by official state agencies and was produced in order to ask for the Governor's aid in procuring funds or extending budgets. Occasionally these requests are met with withdrawals from the Governor's Emergency Fund. Reports and summaries demonstrate spending on both the state and agency levels by fiscal year. Most receipts and carbon copies detail expenditures made by the office of the Governor or by the Governor himself.
