DESCRIPTION: These are case files in contested land and mining applications involving the state--instances where an individual has made application to purchase land lying within a school section, mineral rights are contested between the state and a company, etc. Files include correspondence, protests, stipulations, and so forth between individuals, attorneys, the Utah Attorney General, the Utah State Land Board, and the U.S. General Land office. Hearings were held and determinations made by the U.S. General Land Office.
