TITLE: Voter information pamphlets

DESCRIPTION: Voter information pamphlets are prepared under the direction of the Lieutenant Governor and according to Utah statutes (UCA 20A-7-701). The responsibility of compiling and distributing the pamphlets was assumed by the Elections Office at the time of their 1995 creation. The Lieutenant Governor's / Secretary of State's staff previously performed elections duties. The pamphlets are designed to inform the voters of the State about the candidates and issues on each general election's ballot. They contain some or all of the following items: a list of all candidates for constitutional offices; a list of candidates for each legislative district; information pertaining to all measures to be submitted to the voters; a description provided by the Judicial Council of the selection and retention process for judges; an explanation of ballot marking procedures; and voter registration information. Any record, regardless of format, that is issued by a governmental entity for public distribution at the total or partial expense of that governmental entity.
