This Act, which enabled the people of Utah to draft a constitution and form a state government, also granted to the State of Utah specified numbers of acres for public benefit (Statutes at Large, Treaties, and Proclamations, of the United States of America, vol. XXVIII, chap. CLXXXVIII. Published by authority of Congress, Boston: Brown, Little and Company). In 1907 the Utah State Legislature mandated that the Secretary of State should transmit to each County Recorder, a transcript of all lands within his county selected by the State of Utah under the provisions of this Act (Laws of Utah, 1907, chapter 163).
