TITLE: Appraisal cards
DATES: ca. 1949-1974.
ARRANGEMENT: Numerical by serial number with sections arranged geographically by legal location.
DESCRIPTION: The Utah State Tax Commission assesses taxes on all real property within the state. In relation to property appraisal for tax assessment purposes, the tax commission provides a standard form (TC-74) to be completed and maintained by the county assessor in each county, for each piece of real estate within the county (Utah Code, Annotated, 1953 59-5-46). Information on the tax appraisal cards includes serial number; owner's name; legal location; address; year built; appraised value; and a detailed description of buildings and out buildings, usually including a sketch of the floor plan. Most Cache County appraisal cards are accompanied by a schedule of tax information for a series of years, and many also include photographs of the property. The appraisal cards in this series include two sets of cards. The first, and most complete, includes tax information primarily from 1964-1969, however some cards begin in 1963 and some continue as late as 1974. Tax information on the second set may include 1949-1966.
