SERIES: 24052
TITLE: Territorial criminal case files
DATES: i 1851-1858.
ARRANGEMENT: These case files are arranged numerically by document number. Document numbers were assigned in roughly chronological order.

DESCRIPTION: A compilation of miscellaneous documents from the earliest surviving territorial criminal cases from each of the three judicial districts was assembled (roughly in chronological order), indexed (by surname linked to page number), and microfilmed by the Utah State Archives (microfilm accession no. 60005). The dates of compilation and indexing are unknown; microfilming was done in November 1972). The compilation of documents and resulting film making up the series were linked to the First Judicial District.

During the archival processing of the Third District case files (series 9802) in 1996, the paper copy of documents filed in cases originating in the Third District were restored to that series while documents originating in other districts were identified and re-filed with the appropriate record series.

The paper copy of the archives-produced index and the microfilm copy of the compiled documents survive.
