DESCRIPTION: The Medical Self-Help Training Program was developed jointly, and sponsored nationally, by the American Medical Association and the U.S. Public Health Service with the assistance of the national civil defense organization and the Department of Defense. The program aimed to prepare people to meet their own health requirements to the best of their ability in the event of a national disaster. In Utah the program was endorsed by Governor George D. Clyde. Responsibility for administering it was given to the State Department of Health. This series contains informational brochures, instructor guides, and progress reports related to the program in Utah.
