DESCRIPTION: In 1994 the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women helped pass legislation which provides assistance to women who are victims of domestic and sexual violence. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) authorizes grant money which is administered on a county level. The Violence Against Women Act grant files include applications for grant funds, quarterly and annual reports, expenditure accounts and goal evaluations. Information in these files provides statistical information on those served. It also includes names, addresses, and salaries of advocates and attorneys funded by grant money.
