DESCRIPTION: Justices of the peace in Utah County held inquests or hearings on the bodies of dead persons who might have died by unlawful means to determine the cause of death and to determine whether or not it was felonious. Inquests also included individuals whose deaths may have been natural, but where the cause was not certain. Files containing the results of those inquests from various precincts around the county were filed with Fourth District Court in Utah County.
