DESCRIPTION: The Division of Consumer Protection administers and enforces the Uniform Debt Management Services Act (Utah Code 13-42) as mandated by Utah Code 13-2-102(2)(n) (2026).
Records document the registration requirements for debt-management services to operate in Utah. Records include, applications, articles of incorporation, financial statements, insurance policies, employee resumes, surety documents, client contracts, educational materials, non-profit, tax exempt documentation, and other records required for registration.
Under Utah Code 63A-19-401.1 (2026), the Utah Department of Commerce hereby discloses this record series includes personal data.
Personal data that may be contained in a debt management registration application may include name, home phone number, social security number, applicant's criminal history, social security number.
The Division collects registration information to determine if an applicant meets statutory/rule registration requirements.
