DESCRIPTION: This series contains obituaries kept by the Huntington City cemetery. These records were kept as a way of tracking deaths of Huntington residents and burials in the city cemetery. The obituaries were collected in order to assist in making burial arrangements and as a record of the identity of individuals interred in the cemetery. The obituaries were clipped from newspapers, typically having been written and submitted to the paper by family, friends, or caretakers of the deceased. They contain such information as birth dates and place, death dates, brief descriptions of the individual's life, accomplishments, or character, and funeral information if applicable. Occasionally the obituaries also include information on the cause of death.
