DESCRIPTION: The Division of Consumer Protection administers and enforces legislative acts created to protect consumers' interests Utah Code 13-2-1(2) (2025). These records document complaints filed with the Division and resulting investigations. These records include, but are not limited to, complaint planning/tracking records, financial documentation, photographs, video recordings, records related to violations, final actions, and advice given to consumers. This does not include core case information described in a separate retention schedule. Under U.C.A. § 63A-19-401.1 (2025), the Utah Department of Commerce hereby discloses this record series includes personal identifying information.

Personal Identifying Information (PII) that may be contained within Division administrative files and correspondence: name, DOB, phone number, home address, criminal records, and financial documents. The Division collects case file evidence to meet its statutory requirements for administration and enforcement pursuant to Utah Code 13-2-6 (2025). PII Legal Authority: Utah Code 13-2-1 et seq (2025).

Computer data files: Retain in Office for 10 years after case is closed and then delete.
