DESCRIPTION: This series contains three ledgers documenting payment of taxes levied by the city to fund the construction and improvement of sidewalks. The first ledger dates to 1909 and covers the early period of sidewalk construction, primarily laying down and paving sidewalks. The remaining two ledgers date to the 1920s and record payments on taxes supporting existing sidewalk maintenance. Pages within the ledger typically document the name of the citizen paying the tax, as well as the date and amount of payment. There is no particular order in which the names were kept but the ledgers do contain indexes.
