TITLE: Uintah Basin cultural survey records

DESCRIPTION: Recognizing that the Uintah Basin is a distinct heritage region, the Folk Arts Program initiated a cultural survey of the area from Heber City to Vernal. Areas of documentation focused on Ute Indian traditions, the ranching and mining industries, agriculture and tourism. Storytellers, musicians, cowboy poets, bead workers and saddle makers were among the folk artists documented. Slides and audio recordings were made in anticipation of the development of an audio tour with booklet or other cultural heritage tourism product. Jens Lund was the primary field worker.
