DESCRIPTION: Fieldworkers documented Indian artists throughout the state and into neighboring Colorado. Joyce Hammond documented Ute Mountain Ute, Northern Ute, and Southern Ute traditions in both Utah and southwestern Colorado. Elaine Thatcher documented Southern Paiutes and Ron Holt documented Goshute Indians. These folklorists collected taped interviews of Indian artists and photographed their work. Selected items were purchased for the State Folk Arts Collection.
