DESCRIPTION: Utah's rural and pioneer heritage produced a culture that valued thrift, putting time to good use, and recycling materials to extend the useful life of objects. Carol Edison conducted fieldwork around Utah and produced an exhibit at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts in 1991. Items included woodcarving, rag rugs, miniatures, needlework, and welded sculptures from found and discarded objects. Exhibit labels included extensive biographies of the artists and their portraits. A number of objects were purchased for the State Folk Arts Collection and the show traveled to several venues.
