DESCRIPTION: This series contains documents created by the Utah Spaceport Committee to promote the selection of Dugway, Utah to be the launch site for the space shuttle, which was in development at the time. Includes correspondence by the Utah Spaceport Committee, the Federation of Rocky Mountain States, NASA, and governors of western states to the President of the United States. Includes documents advocating use of recoverable rocket boosters instead of expendable rocket boosters, documents advocating a western launch site over Kennedy Space Center, the bill from the 1971 Utah State Legislature creating the Utah Spaceport Committee, meeting minutes and agendas from the Spaceport Committee, news releases and newspaper clippings related to the Spaceport Committee and space shuttle development, studies from the Spaceport Committee detailing advantages of a space shuttle launch site in Utah.
