AGENCY: Division of Archives and Records Service

SERIES: 6195
TITLE: Territorial militia service cards
DATES: i 1850-1880.
ARRANGEMENT: Alphabetical by veteran's surname.

DESCRIPTION: This filmed card file contains a partial listing of individuals who served in the territorial militia, also known as the Nauvoo Legion, from the 1850s into the 1870s. Each card provides the individual's name, rank, the name of the captain of the company in which he served, the dates of service, and often the number of his listing on the roll. The card catalog apparently was started as part of an attempt by the Military Records Section to create a comprehensive listing of Indian Wars veterans by abstracting data from various publications and other series.
