DESCRIPTION: Created by the Utah Work Projects Administration under the direction of the Bureau of Vital Records, this record contains the names of Utah decedents whose death certificates were filed during the years 1904 to 1934. Each entry is comprised of name code, full name, age, gender, date of death, county code, and death certificate number. This index is based on the Soundex coding system. This phonetic system was developed to find a surname even through it may have been recorded under various spellings.
