DESCRIPTION: Different types of information are required to control the trucking industry according to state and federal statute. The information is gathered in special transportation permits (STP's). They regulate the weight, size, and truck configuration, allowing trucks with unusual loads to move through the state, be identified, and pay as they go. The information could include the name of person purchasing, truck company name, license number, type of load, special route, specified issuance time, registered weight, permitted weight, Port of Entry name, signature and badge number of the issuing officer, overweight category, and signature of vehicle driver.
