DESCRIPTION: Utah law requires county recorders to record, in a book kept for that purpose, all documents, records and other writings either required or permitted by law (Utah Code, Annotated, 1943, 19-18-3). From 1947 to 1957 the Washington County recorder kept a separate book for miscellaneous records, or records that did not fit into any other organized category. The majority of these documents are: bills of sale; affidavits, including affidavits of identity; death certificates; certificates of redemption; bishop's and president's certificates; and powers of attorney. There are also a few wills, letters, releases of lis pendens, licenses to practice medicine, statements of proof of labor, city ordinances, lien waivers, declarations of homestead, and mining locations declared null and void.
