TITLE: Weber County oaths of allegiance

DESCRIPTION: These volumes contain the originals of forms completed by Mormon men taking the oath of allegiance to the United States and disavowing the practice of polygamy. They contain the person's name, date, and signature indicating oath was taken, the signature of the deputy clerk certifying oath was taken, and date form was filed with the district court. Federal laws had outlawed the practice of polygamy and this oath recognized the supremacy of federal law.
