DATES: i 1869-1895.
ARRANGEMENT: Chronological by date.
DESCRIPTION: These volumes record individuals' declarations of their intentions to become United States citizens. During this period, an individual could file for citizenship in any court of the territory, but most declarations were from residents of counties in the third district. The volumes have standardized forms allowing for insertions of the individual's name, sovereign, date, and signatures of the individual and the court clerk witnessing the statement. After statehood in 1896, the district courts began keeping records separately in each county.
