DESCRIPTION: These cards contain basic information on the military service of Utah veterans. Under a 1942 executive order, the Historical Society was to collect and keep a record of all Utahns serving in the armed forces during World War II. Preprinted cards created by the Utah State Historical Society's military records section summarize the personal background and military service record of World War II veterans. Cards collected by the state director for selective service, later passed to the military records section, provide address, rank, branch of service and local draft board number and location for WWII veterans and those who entered the service during the following peacetime years.
