DESCRIPTION: The Governor's Award for Science and Technology is given annually by the Governor's Science Council to Utahns who have made significant scientific contributions to the state and nation. The nominations are prepared by members of the scientific, educational, medical, government, and business professions who know the candidates and their achievements. The nomination files are reviewed by the Science Council, which is chaired by the Office of Planning and Budget's Science Advisor. Final award decisions are documented in the State Advisory Council on Science and Technology annual report (series 05116). The files include letters of recommendation and candidates' resumes.
