Scope and Content
Due to the pollution caused by coal-burning furnaces and stoves in Utah's cities, the State Planning Board investigated new processes of creating smokeless fuel from coal. This series contains the following records: correspondence of the Joint Smoke-Abatement Committee and the State Planning Board; reports concerning smoke control in Salt Lake City; plans for a pilot plant; related articles from various sources; and a State Planning Board report on smoke elimination.
