Scope and Content
The State Planning Board gathered information on National Parks for their Park, Parkway, and Recreational areas study. The board was officially designated as the agency which coordinated the cooperative efforts of the following state agencies with the National Park Service in the Park, Parkway, and Recreational areas study: State Land Board, State Fish and Game Department, State Engineers Office, and State Department of Public Roads. The State Planning Board had supervisory direction of the study projects and reports. This series has the correspondence related to this study from various national parks in Utah and in other western states including: Bryce Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Crater Lake, Four Corners, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Mesa Verde, Mt. Ranier, Rocky Mountain, Sequoia, Wind Cave, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Zion. Most of this correspondence contains data about the number of visitors to the parks and the parks' facilities. This series also has general correspondencefrom various agencies and associations such as: American Automobile Association, Forest Service, and the National Park Service; and also correspondence concerning the Boulder Canyon Project, the Word's Fair, and general tourist information about the state.
