Scope and Content

This series contains photographs preserved by Governor Matheson's office which mostly depict Matheson in formal and informal situations. It is unknown whether Matheson's press secretary took the majority of these photographs; nevertheless, Matheson and his staff preserved the photographs for press and/or nostalgic purposes. A significant portion of the photographs in this series are of bill and proclamation signings, in which Matheson appears at his desk with the sponsors of the bill or proclamation standing around him. Other photographs in this series include groupings of photographs of Matheson at a Geneva Steel jobs rally, touring Bear Lake, and at MX missile testimonies in Washington, D.C. A small portion of the photographs were sent to Matheson's office from federal agencies (such as the U.S. Department of the Treasury), news agencies (such as the Deseret News), and individual photographers.
