Scope and Content
This series contains ordinances from Clarkston Town. Ordinances are legislative actions passed by the town council to regular activities, businesses, and conduct within the town. These records typically contain an ordinance number, title, and preamble, as well as the ordaining clause, the body or subject of the ordinances, when applicable the penalty of violation, the effective date, proof of publication, the signature of the mayor and an attestation signature by a witness (typically the town recorder), and the municipal seal. Clarkston's ordinances address such topics as sales tax, television and cable companies to maintain cable lines, parking within town limits, water use and regulations, utility fees and maintenance, animal control, disorderly conduct, business licenses, the town's budget, and more. This series also contains microfilm copies of the 1911 and 2003 codified ordinances (revised ordinances).
