Scope and Content
This series contains two photograph albums from the 1965-66 and 1966-67 school years. The albums include black and white photographs of school faculty and staff, along with photos of each school class for the year. The albums were created for the school and/or the school district as a record of the staff and students at the school over the years. In these albums no individuals have been identified.
One of the most striking aspects of the photos in these albums is the unusual racial and ethnic diversity evident in the photos. It is clear that during this period the Pingree School served a population that was very heavily African American and Hispanic, and the staff included a number of Black individuals as well. This reflects the historically diverse make-up of Ogden and is in sharp contrast to the demographic make-up of most other Utah communities.
