Scope and Content
This series contains copies of the student yearbooks published at the end of each school year. The yearbooks are created as mementos of the school year and they document staff and students, along with events, student government, clubs, athletic teams, and other school activities. As with many early high school yearbooks, the year-end publication was likely started out as the "commencement number" of a student publication issued several times during the year. Over time it evolved into a larger annual publication. The publication was call "The Crest," a name likely derived from "Hillcrest," the original name of the school before it was changed to Murray High School. In 1939 the yearbook was renamed "Yarrum" (Murray spelled backwards), but returned to its original name in the 1940s.
