Scope and Content

This series contains color photographic negatives and photographic prints taken by Division staff to document work done at the State Capitol and events that took place there. Most of the photos relate to work undertaken in 1980 after a windstorm damaged the flagpole in front of the Capitol and the copper cladding on the Capitol dome. Photos include views of the damaged dome, removal of the damaged flagpole, installation of a new pole, and dedication ceremonies for the new flagpole. There are also photos of signage at the University of Utah and Utah Technical College in Orem, various views of the Capitol and grounds, installation of a Christmas tree in the rotunda, and views of the inauguration of Governor Matheson in 1981. The photos also include a few images of offices, the ZCMI Center, and individual people.
