Washington City (Utah) Official bonds
Dates: 1937-1977
0.20 cubic foot
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
Scope and Content
This series contains oaths of office and bonds for city officials. The laws of Utah require city officials to take these oaths and give a bond before entering into their duties. The bonds were recorded by the municipal government and filed in the offices of the clerk. Bonds state that if the official neglected to perform his or her duties, then the money would be paid to the city, but if he or she did faithfully carry out their duties, the bond would become null and void. Bonds record the name and office of the official, the date of the bond, the amount, information about the length and date of the term of office, and the signatures of the surety company holding the bond and the notary.
