The city council minute books were created as the official record of the city council meetings. Typical entries contain information about budgeting and finance; city ordinances; business and professional licensing procedures; department activities; and improvements in public service such as street repairs.
Gaps in Series
Among the gaps in this series are the following: November 1892 - August 1895; November 1924 - December 1931; May 1942 - December 1949; February 1957 - June 1966. The State Archives has microfilm copies but not original volumes for the following dates: January 4, 1932 - December 4, 1936; December 9, 1936 - August 5, 1938.
