A petition for naturalization required a previous declaration of intention to become a citizen and then a waiting period. Petitions of naturalization contain the petitioner's name\, place of residence\, occupation\, birth date and place\, date of immigration\, port and vessel\, of arrival\, a statement of allegiance to the United States government\, and evidence of filing a declaration of intention to become a citizen.
