Scope and Content

This series contains books used to index minutes of the County Commission. The books were pre-printed and filled in by the county clerk to facilitate access to information in the minute books. The indexes are arranged by subject. Books 4 and 5 have subjects and page numbers listed across the top of each page, but over time the clerk added subjects not included by the printer. Book 6 has a list of subjects and page numbers at the beginning of each alphabetical section. The book numbers were likely intended to correspond with the minute book numbers initially, but index book 5 extends beyond minute book 5 and index book 6 extends even further. There are no index books 1-3, since the corresponding minute books have internal indexes.
